Firstly, we’re really glad you found us. If you haven’t attended before, we’d like to briefly let you know what we’re about and what you can expect when you visit.

We believe church is for everyone, it should be fun, exciting and relevant. We are not about mere religion nor are part of a  specific denomination. We do want to introduce people to the adventure that faith in Christ can bring, and then challenge and encourage them to live a life of significance.

Lots of people attend church here every Sunday. We meet at 11 am but tea or coffee is available from about 10:15 am for anyone arriving earlier.

There is ample parking at the building, including disabled spaces at the front, with overflow parking available at the nearby school.

The Vine Church spans a range of ages and backgrounds. We believe our children are an important part of the church so there are a variety of Sunday morning children’s gangs from ages one through to primary seven.

We don’t mind how you dress, casual is fine. Our worship style is contemporary and dynamic; it’s lead by a band rather than an organ. Each service lasts for about 90 minutes but we don’t lock the doors so you can leave anytime you wish. Our café serves light snacks after the service and many people stay and enjoy having lunch together. Our aim is for church to be like an extended family that’s constantly growing and on a mission. We look forward to warmly welcoming you when you visit.

I am the vine, you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.

SUNDAY SERVICE
  • THE EARLY YEARS +

The Vine began as a small group of young people in the late 1960’s which quickly expanded and gathered momentum. By the early 1980’s it had grown to a thriving congregation and had adopted the name, ‘The Vine Fellowship’ and then later ‘The Vine Church’.

Our name is  based on a famous teaching by Jesus recorded in  John 15 in which Jesus  describes himself  as the Vine and we are called the branches, reflecting our understanding of the need for connectedness and friendship with God through Jesus Christ , with other churches and with each other.

  • THE PRESENT DAY +

The church moved twice during the 1980’s and early ‘90’s reflecting the growing size of the membership. Having sold these properties we moved into a community centre on a ‘temporary’ basis for eight years!

The ‘lemonade factory’ we now call home underwent a huge transformation to become the fine building it is today and is now used regularly for hundreds of people to meet together.

It is used as a conference centre venue, a cafe, a base for the Lemon Aid charity, a great facility for the community and of course, a wonderful home for the Vine services and meetings.

  • THE FUTURE +

Though much has changed over the years we continue to reach out to the spiritual and physical needs of our local community, and recognise our responsibility to churches nationally and internationally and look forward to an even more exciting and adventurous future.
