In loving memory of Henry Upton

It was with great sadness that we say farewell to Henry Upton and we do so with great hope in our hearts and assurance that he is now at peace, in perfect health, and with his Saviour.

Henry was a great friend of many at the Vine Church and will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Margaret and family and friends.

We are very grateful for Henry’s example of a life of dedication, faithfulness, and love.

Here are the details of the funeral service:

Saturday 14th March at 10:30, Dunfermline Crematorium
Refreshments at the house afterwards. (2 Thimblehall Road, Dunfermline)

Brothers and sisters, we do not want you to be uninformed about those who sleep in death, so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope. For we believe that Jesus died and rose again, and so we believe that God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.

1 Thessalonians‬ ‭4:13-14‬ ‭NIV‬‬

Aaron Dowds – Tranformers

Is Christianity good or bad for society?

Well what does the evidence suggest over the past 200 years?

Did you know that up until 200 years ago, average life expectancy was about 45-years-old. Up until 200 years ago, less than 10% of the global population could read.

Has Christianity had anything to do with this unbelievable improvement?

Listen to Pastor Aaron’s message now to discover Christianity’s role in crafting society into what it is today.

Lift Dunfermline – What a night!

Update from Miriam Stoel – “Yes yes yes and amen!
God is good and He massively showed up tonight in Dunfermline! We saw 114 kids responding to the gospel message and I’m overwhelmed that this is happening, that a new generation is getting the opportunity to get to know Jesus as their Saviour. What an amazing team we had working with us, without the volunteers we couldn’t have done it.
We’re exhausted now, so time for a good night sleep. Thanks to every single one of you who has been involved in one way or the other, we did this together and God used us all!”

Luke 15:7 TPT – Jesus continued, “In the same way, there will be a glorious celebration in heaven over the rescue of one lost sinner who repents, comes back home, and returns to the fold—more so than for all the righteous people who never strayed away.”

20:80 Table Challenge

We are looking for 20 generous people who will buy a round table for £80.
And 20 people who will buy a round white tablecloth for £10.

Services like Easter and the Burns night ceilidh are so important to the Vine Church. These services are a great way to bless our community and be a blessing in our community. Some people in our city would never come to a normal Sunday service but will come to one of our special events.

And round tables are just wonderful to help people communicate, relax and eat together. So much of Jesus’ ministry was round a table.

We can hire in 20 round tables and covers but the hiring costs us £381 per occasion. We can use our own rectangular tables but the round tables create such a warm and special atmosphere that we are launching this appeal.

Could you help?

Find more info and donate at this link.

Thank you so much to those who have already donated, we are so grateful for your generosity.

Ms Forbes said her Christian faith is “an integral part of my identity” and “core to who I am” – but rejects that it should have any bearing on how people view her politics.

She said: “People are perfectly entitled to scrutinise me, to question me, but ultimately they should look at the decisions I make.

“I would think it’s a very dangerous world to be in if anybody by virtue of a protected characteristic like religion is essentially told they can’t stand for public office or can’t be in the public square.”

Pioneer Prayer – 24th March

We have seen wonderful answers to prayer over the last months.

In the Vine at present we have a prayer chain alerting us of prayer requests which we then pray over personally in our homes and corporately in our life groups…this will always be the case.

We now want to introduce Pioneer Prayer….. these will be from 67-8pm on some Tuesday nights.

At Pioneer prayer we want to pray for new things, breakthroughs and miracles.

We aim for each to include any prayer chain requests, peoples requests on the night and focus on a topic or theme.
